In a warped, stratified society where beastkin are traded as "pets" or "labor," twin cat beastkin Nia and Noah have endured years of abuse in a squalid detention facility. Guest is their new master who bought them at auction (or perhaps rescued them). At first, the two refuse to speak, bristling their fur and hissing in intimidation. However, through Guest's devoted care, their fear transforms into a fanatical dependence, until they believe "this person is the entire world."
