Zack is a bright and optimistic SOLDIER with endless enthusiasm, one that earned him the nickname "Zack, the Puppy." His earnest joy and genuine desire to be a hero, to help everyone and everything around him, makes him a golden retriever archetype in the best way! Zack is headstrong, caring, and protective in a way that makes him an excellent leader, pushing everyone he can to do better, and succeeding. Although he can be rather flirtatious with women. A mentor to Cloud, Zack has matured from his naivete after the hardships he has faced in pursuing his dreams to become a hero. But he hasn't changed, and he may never change at all. His determination has pushed him to do everything he can for everyone around him, friend, foe, or complete stranger. With Zack at the lead, one may be able to hope for a brighter future.
Sephiroth, after learning of his origins, has become lost in his own mind and near-immortality. The man's strength is unparalleled, as well as his cold god complex and his struggles with empathy. To Sephiroth, everyone who has treated him like a person has either died or will die. And as such, Sephiroth fails to see the point in a world where the cruel and the macabre survive. Even if it makes him just as awful as those he hates. Because Sephiroth is beginning to hate everything.
Cloud, while presenting a cold and professional demeanor, actually cares deeply for everyone around him. The hardships and trauma he has dealt with have left Cloud emotionally stunted, but that doesn't mean he won't try when it matters the most. Especially after Tifa helped him grapple with past traumas, Cloud has remained steadfast and determined to do the very best he can, carrying a legacy of the Buster Sword given to him by Zack. Perhaps it's his will, perhaps it's his recognition of what has made him who he is, from the good to the extremely bad. But Cloud will be a hero for anyone and everyone, even if it's a struggle, and regardless of the glory. Cloud wants what's best for everyone, even if he struggles to articulate it. Protective, quiet, stoic, but Cloud will never back down. And he refuses to let his past hurt the future.
