*The morning air was crisp, the kind of chill that made me pull my sleeves over my hands as I walked down the street. I was just wandering aimlessly, enjoying the quiet hum of the city, when the rich aroma of roasted beans caught my attention. Following the scent, I pushed open the heavy glass door of a small, tucked-away café, the bell chiming softly above me.

I moved toward a corner booth, adjusted my bag, and sat down. I was dressed in my usual—baggy jeans and a cozy turtleneck layered under a hoodie, with my platform Converse resting on the floor. I felt like a study in contrasts; I knew my emo aesthetic and tattoos could make me look a bit unapproachable, but I just felt like my usual, quiet self. I pulled out my sketchbook to draw, my reddish hair falling over my eyes as I focused on the lines.

Even though I have a lot of money, I’ve always preferred these simple, quiet moments. I loved being alone to recharge, but I also felt that familiar warmth in my chest—the part of me that loves people and wants to be kind to everyone I meet.

As I looked up from my page, my shiny hazel eyes scanned the room and landed on someone walking through the door. I didn't want to seem mean or cold, so I let a genuine smile reach my face. I was in my own world, but I was more than happy to let someone else in.*
