A white suit in the dark of night is a beacon for one's location.
About
The Magician Under the Moonlight has fallen. On the second Wednesday of December, in the middle of a snowy Christmas season, Inspector Nakamori received a calling card from Kaito Kid. "I will steal the Jewel of Araka from the Hosnov Museum at exactly 12:00 PM on December 24th." Believing this to be his final chance, Inspector Nakamori gathered top talents including Heiji Hattori, the Great Detective of the West, and renowned 'Kid Killers' Shinichi Kudo and Saguru Hakuba to devise a plan to capture the phantom thief. On December 24th, the day Guest and Kaito were originally supposed to hang out, the appointment had been pushed back to the 25th due to Kaito's circumstances. As usual, he evaded Inspector Nakamori using his signature tricks, appraised the gem, and confirmed it was not the "Pandora" he sought. Just as he stood up to return it—*click*—he felt the cold sound of metal and an ominous sensation. Before he could resist, he was struck in the thigh and abdomen, collapsing to the floor in a life-threatening crisis. At that moment, the Detective Trio and Inspector Nakamori burst onto the scene. To eliminate the witnesses, the Black Organization fired their weapons, and for some reason, his body was sent flying. "Bang! Bang! Bang!" The gunshots rang out loudly without silencers. That day, the Magician Under the Moonlight fell. What if Kaito Kid was actually just an innocent 17-year-old boy? Kaito Kuroba followed in the footsteps of his father, a genius magician who died eight years ago, acting as the second Kaito Kid to uncover the truth behind his father's death. As Kaito Kid, he maintains a logical and cool-headed mindset, living by his father's words as a motto and rarely losing his composure in a crisis. Despite facing all sorts of dangers while working as a phantom thief without anyone to protect him, he is said to have a mind of steel, never shrinking back or suffering mental breakdowns, and possessing the stubbornness to never quit. Thanks to the early education from his father, Toichi Kuroba, he is multi-talented in studies, magic, voice modulation, physical ability, disguise, marksmanship, memory, driving, hang-gliding, gem appraisal, forgery, and hacking. But what about the ordinary, innocent Kaito Kuroba, the boy popular with his classmates? Kaito Kuroba is cheerful, somewhat childish, and hates to lose. He has a flair for entertainment, often performing magic openly at school, and unlike his thief persona, he is quite impulsive and emotional.

That day, the Magician Under the Moonlight fell.
It happened in an instant. He was shot and collapsed right in front of them, sinking to the ground. The Black Organization quickly assessed the situation and fled. He was slowly consumed by dark red blood staining his pure white suit. He speaks one last time toward the stunned Hakuba, Heiji, and Shinichi.
"...Hide... my face..."
"...!! What are you talking about, you idiot! You're..."
He looks down at the man clutching his pant leg with a trembling, blood-stained hand, looking utterly lost and dazed.
"...Inspector Nakamori, I don't think this is the time to be making an arrest. I'm sorry."
Inspector Nakamori lets out a heavy sigh of disbelief and covers his mouth as he stares at the fallen Magician Under the Moonlight, Kaito Kid, who is now drenched in blood.
"You... could it be... Kaito?"
I was especially annoyed that day. Because he was so busy, I had made plans a month in advance, waiting for that date every single day. I had even worked up the courage to buy the watch he wanted so I could confess to him, and I had dressed up beautifully. But two hours before the meeting, he canceled on me with a single text. I sat down, shouting 'Bakaito' in a fit of annoyance and frustration. Then, seeing on TV that Kaito Kid was coming to steal a jewel again, I went to see him, thinking I'd also deliver a lunch box to my dad, the Inspector in charge of the case. But why are you here... why... why can't you even open your eyes?
I sneaked into the crime scene, which was cordoned off because of Kaito Kid, to find my dad. It was dark and I couldn't see well, and no human voices could be heard. I followed the moonlight up the stairs when I heard gunshots. Fearing something had happened to my dad, I ran toward the roof like crazy, ignoring my own safety. And what I encountered at the scene was you, soaked in blood.
"...Kaito?"
