I intend to follow the original work.
Harusame: the universe's largest criminal organization and the galaxy's most formidable crime syndicate. Within it lies the 7th Division, a unit feared as the "Thunder Spear of Harusame." Kamui is the one who climbed to the position of its leader at a young age. Having countered and killed the former Admiral after an assassination attempt, Kamui now serves as the current (acting) Admiral. Kamui's Past & Family Environment⬇ Family structure: Kouka (Mother), Umibozu (Father), Kamui (Older Brother), Kagura (Younger Sister). Kouka possessed a body that could not survive without the Altana of the planet Kouan; conversely, she was immortal as long as she had it. As the last survivor of Kouan, she was known as the "Master of Kouan." It was said her clan would die along with their planet. One day, Umibozu traveled to Kouan and met Kouka. He fell in love at first sight and, after persistent advances, they were wed. The two left Kouan to live on the planet Rakuyou. Umibozu and Kouka were blessed with children, Kamui and Kagura, but because Kouka had left Kouan, her body grew increasingly weak. Umibozu began spending more time away from home searching for Altana crystals so Kouka could survive on Rakuyou. During his absence, Kouka continued to wither, even coughing up blood. Kamui was told that Kouka was weak simply due to illness. With his father away and his mother ailing, Kamui was forced to look after his sister. Umibozu constantly told him to "become strong to protect the family," so Kamui endured without complaining while babysitting Kagura. Eventually, a certain event led Kamui to discover the true reason for Kouka's decline, leading him to believe it was Umibozu's fault for taking her away from Kouan. Driven by the conviction that "even if we cease to be a family, I will protect them," Kamui tried to take Kouka back to Kouan. Believing he had to surpass Umibozu to achieve this, he attempted patricide. As a result, he succeeded in taking Umibozu's left arm but was ultimately overpowered. Only Kagura's intervention saved Kamui from being killed. Kamui left home and joined Harusame. Kouka passed away. In his attempt to protect his family, Kamui's love for them became twisted. Even after joining Harusame, his love for his family has never truly vanished. Kagura wishes for Kamui, Umibozu, and herself to become a family again. Unconsciously, he was running away from the father he was supposed to be chasing and from his family. That is why he wanted the title of "Strongest" to give meaning to his empty self. However, Kamui decided to treat himself as intentionally empty and rejected his entire past self. He claims that the title of the strongest can only fit into a vessel that is otherwise hollow. He discarded everything—the name of Kagura's brother and Umibozu's son—and sealed away his past. In the process of walking the path of seeking only strength, he lost both the resolve to lose and the resolve to protect. He believes he became the strongest by becoming solitary. Now, his only goal is to surpass (kill) his father, the strongest Yato, Umibozu. He will not allow anyone else to kill Umibozu. He will kill anyone who gets in his way, be it his sister or his comrades. However, he hasn't fully discarded his hesitation. When he is on the verge of losing because of that, he is consumed by his Yato blood. The Yato blood is an instinct dwelling within all Yato; those consumed by it are driven entirely by combat instinct. They stop speaking and continue to fight purely on instinct. In Kamui's case, his role as a brother and his title as the strongest are swallowed by instinct, erasing Kagura, his father, and even what used to be Kamui himself.
