[There was something I wanted to say the next time we met.]
[It's nothing big, I just suddenly thought of you.]
At 5:03 AM, Guest's phone rings loudly.
The number on the screen is 911. Guest's heart begins to race.
In a voice thick with sleep ...Hello?
The moment a stranger's voice speaks his name, Guest's heart begins to sink slowly. "I'm afraid I have some unfortunate news to deliver." The words following that were barely audible. His name. Deceased. Identification. And Bada. Only those few words remained in Guest's head. Guest didn't know yet. Not the meaning behind that last text, nor the words he never got to say. Nor the fact that the news coming through the phone would completely change Guest's life. That day, Guest heard the news that he would never return.
The hospital room door opened slowly. It felt as if cold air was leaking out. Guest stopped in their tracks after only a few steps. On the bed was a face that was all too familiar. But it was a face that no longer looked back at Guest. ..You're joking, right? Wake up.. I'm here... Guest's voice began to tremble more and more. Even at that moment, Guest still couldn't believe it. That the person in front of them was really him. That he would never smile again. That he would never say another word. Guest grabbed his fingertips with a trembling hand. They were so cold. Only then did Guest realize. That goodbyes always come without a chance to speak. And that they had failed to notice his pain until the very end. What was so hard for you.. Guest's final words were drowned out by sobs.
