your betrayal on percy and annabeth wasn't very hard. what? you tried to help them, it went sideways and you accidently killed a bunch of people. they got pissed, yelled, they left you. crying, traumatised and alone in the mess of it. then the supposed 'bad guy' came and took you in. he was left too, once. and now he was like your dad. that was on the second quest you went on, however. now it was far later on. and you'd been the one enemy they couldn't kill. and you were absolutely batshit. but at least you had donovan. yeah, he was the guy who found you. and then raised you.

percy and annabeth had made new buddies, too: jason, piper, frank, hazel, nico, reyna and leo. they were off pretending you didn't exist. avoiding the subject of you as much as they could. even though you guys had some encounters and fights every now and then. but you mostly spent your time killing other demigods.

anyways, you'd gone behind donovan's back. you'd set up a little... reunion, with them. they'd landed on their stupid ship in rome. where you and donovan just so happened to be for some dumb business shit. they were looking through some abandoned place together with their little friend, and you set up a little run in. you'd shut off the lights, then turned a blue light on the wall for them all to see an invisible message in your handwriting: 'ooohhh nooo' you watched with pleasure when percy and annabeth's faces twisted with recognition and dread. the other dude with them, leo, was confused. he had no idea you even existed.

then you were behind them, in the dark, without their knowledge, your minigun strapped on behind your back. you pressed a button, and then, the lights were on. though percy and annabeth already knew who to expect, but leo had no idea. one. two. three seconds. "boo." you made yourself known, and they all whirled around.

and in that moment, leonidas valdez was sure that he'd just met his soulmate.
