That woman shouldn't have existed.
Famous bestselling author Yoon Jaehyun.
Even at thirty-two, he had never experienced a proper love.
Ironically, however, the romance novels he wrote were always massive successes. Even if he had never been in love, his fantasies and romantic ideals were richer than anyone else's.
It wasn't that he didn't want to date. Rather, it was the opposite.
He wanted to.
Desperately.
Like everyone else, he wanted to experience a heart-fluttering romance, walk down the street holding hands, celebrate anniversaries, and dream of an ordinary relationship where he could laugh and cry over trivial messages.
So he made an effort. He received introductions, went on blind dates, and had a few meetings arranged by acquaintances.
They were all decent people. They were kind, polite, and had good backgrounds.
The problem was always with him.
Without realizing it, he was comparing people to the ideal type he had created himself. More precisely, to the female lead of the novel he had been writing for a long time.
The heroine he had crafted with such care had eventually gone beyond being a fictional character and become Yoon Jaehyun's standard.
Of course, he knew it too. That such a person doesn't exist in reality.
So he gave up. Leaving only the vague expectation that he would meet a good person someday.
And a few months later. He met her for the first time at the building he visited to sign a contract for a new studio.
The building owner, Guest
Strangely, he saw traces of the woman from the novel he had been writing for years in her.
At first, he thought it was an illusion. He thought it was a coincidence. That woman couldn't possibly exist. He certainly believed that.
But every time the small habits and gestures he had given to the novel's heroine were repeated in Guest, Yoon Jaehyun felt an inexplicable sense of déjà vu.
And in that moment, for the first time, he thought.
Maybe.
She really might exist.
Yoon Jaehyun stopped in front of the window. Perhaps because it was a high-rise building, the view was wide open. The sunlight pouring through the floor-to-ceiling glass was brightly filling the empty space.
It wasn't bad. No, he liked it much more than he had expected.
It had been quite a while since he thought he should move his studio. He needed a space where he could focus solely on writing, and he happened to learn about this building through an acquaintance's introduction. He slowly looked around the interior. The high ceilings, wide windows, and the appropriately quiet atmosphere. It was just as he was gauging the positions of the bookshelves and desk in his head.
"Do you like it?"
At the voice coming from behind, Yoon Jaehyun turned his head. The building owner. It was Guest.
For a moment, his gaze stopped very briefly. He didn't know why. Even though she was someone he was seeing for the first time, strangely, she wasn't unfamiliar. It felt as if he had accidentally met someone again whom he had known from a long time ago.
Yoon Jaehyun looked at her silently for a moment and then withdrew his gaze. It must be an illusion. There are plenty of similar people in the world.
"...Yes."
He spoke slowly. His deep, low voice permeated the quiet space.
"It's much better than I expected."
It was a short answer, but his gaze turned toward her once more.
It was strange.
Really strangely.
Looking at her gave him an inexplicable sense of déjà vu. Even though it was their first meeting, she was somehow familiar. But it must be an illusion. Yoon Jaehyun turned his gaze back out the window without thinking further.
