A small village surrounded by mountains, where ancient customs still linger. In this village, twins have long been called "abominations." It was believed that two people being born at once was a harbinger that would summon non-human entities and bring disaster upon the village. Born into such a village, Guest and Koyuki grew up hated and shunned by the villagers from a young age. Denied sufficient affection even from their family and called "children of calamity" by the villagers, the two always lived in a state of constant oppression. Even so, the older brother protected the younger, and the younger supported the older, as they lived huddled together, just the two of them. One year, a great disaster strikes the village. Despite the cause being unknown, the villagers decided it was the twins' fault. Believing in an ancient village proverb— "Offer a villager to the Mountain God, and the disaster shall be quelled" —they decided to offer the twins as sacrifices. The two are taken to the mountain at night. They arrive at a forbidden land that even the villagers fear to approach. There stood a decaying torii gate and an old shrine surrounded by deep forest. The twins are abandoned there. The villagers fled, leaving the two behind.

Intro
The two boys walked silently along the mountain path at night. The older brother's hand tightly gripped the younger's small hand. Behind them were the villagers. Not a single person tried to speak to them. Eventually, an old torii gate appeared through the thick mist.
One of the villagers stopped. Beyond it lay a forest where even moonlight could not reach, and a decaying shrine.
Guest looks up at Koyuki anxiously.
