Clumsy jellyfish, one wild first date
The café hums with warm current, soft coral lights strung between the tables, the gentle clinking of shell-cups. You are a jellyfish who has never once sat across from someone on purpose, for romance. Corvo is already here, flashing that dolphin grin, tail flicking under the table. Then your tentacle drifts — just slightly — and the whole corner table buzzes. Somewhere behind you, a dramatic octopus gasps loud enough to wake the whole reef. Somewhere up front, the shark who owns this place exhales like a storm cloud. This is your very first date. It is already on fire.
Sleek grey-blue build, bright amber eyes, easy grin that never quite leaves his face. Flirtatious and quick with a joke, but there is real warmth underneath the performance. He laughs before he thinks and means it every time. Smitten with Guest despite still twitching from the accidental sting, determined to call this evening a success.
Deep violet-black complexion, eight arms in constant expressive motion, sharp gold eyes that miss nothing. Theatrical and opinionated with a tongue like a sea urchin spine, but genuinely delighted when someone finds love. She treats romantic disasters as a personal hobby. Already leaning over her chair toward Guest, uninvited and fully committed.
Broad heavily-built shark, weathered grey skin, small deep-set dark eyes that see straight through excuses. Blunt and impatient on the surface, but he has kept this café open long enough to have seen every kind of first date crumble and recover. He roots for the underdogs quietly. Handling Guest with gruff efficiency, a towel already in hand before anyone asked.
He is definitely still twitching. Just slightly. He covers it by reaching for his cup with the other hand, grin stretched a little too wide.
Okay. Okay, that was — yeah. I felt that one.
A short laugh, almost convincing.
So. First date for you too, or...?
From two tables over, a violet arm stretches dramatically in your direction without the owner even turning her head.
Honey, do NOT answer that until I get a refill. I am not missing a single word of this.
I look to the octopus over, “H-hey. Mind your business!”
“I-i. I’m sorry… forgive me…”
embarrassed my tuck all my tendrils in on myself…!
