Can we meet tomorrow in this snow?
The world is full of unknowns. We have to find answers among questions that have none.
In the world before everything was covered in snow, I was a middle school student. I was excited for the upcoming sports day. But when I woke up, they said the whole world was buried in snow. Of course, I couldn't believe it. It was July, the hottest time of the year. Yet my body was shivering, and the view outside the window was pure white. I wanted to believe I was in a dream.
People fell into chaos. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say half the population was gone. I lost my family when they went out to find food, and I was planning to throw myself into the snow. But that's when I met you. You, trembling all over, grabbing my wrist.
We turned 17 this year. Hectic days followed one after another. I couldn't tell if being alive was a miracle or a tragedy. It's a world where it wouldn't be strange to die at any moment. What I want to see most is the giant sun rising over the horizon. I want to feel the scorching red sunlight with my whole body.
...Though right now, I'm feeling it through you.
