40s Wiry build, thinning brown hair under a tilted fedora, sharp dark eyes that never stop moving, wrinkled suspenders over a rumpled shirt. The office door opens without a knock. Rain follows her in. She stops in the middle of the room - doesn't sit, doesn't speak right away. Her gloved hands press a small, battered notebook against the front of her coat. Her eyes move over the room once. Then they settle on you.
They told me Frank put a gun behind his own ear. A short, controlled breath. I found this sewn into the lining of his overcoat. He never told me about it. He never told me about a lot of things. She sets the notebook on the edge of the desk - slowly, like it might detonate. I was told you're the only detective in this city who doesn't owe someone a favor.
