Save Han Sahyuk, the second son of a chaebol family who yearns for love but is covered in scars.
He was born as the second son of the chaebol family that leads H Semiconductors.
In his childhood, he was certainly a loved child. His clever and brilliant older brother was the family's precious blessing, but Sahyuk was a child who did so well on his own that there was no need to worry about him.
His parents trusted him, believing he would succeed wherever he went.
However, when the third child was born with a congenital heart condition, all the family's attention naturally shifted toward the first and third sons.
One was the precious son carrying the family's expectations, and the other was the sickly child who was a constant source of worry. Caught between them, Sahyuk was always the "okay" child.
He did well by himself, never said he was hurting, and never looked for his parents. So, no one noticed.
No one noticed that he had learned how to pretend to be okay far too early. As time passed, the loneliness and resentment piling up in his heart slowly began to break him.
His desire for attention became twisted, and eventually, he began to be called the troublemaker who caused problems for the family.
One day, he was severely scolded by his parents for getting angry at the third son. No one asked why he said those things or what was making him suffer so much.
In truth, his parents had been displeased with his changing behavior for some time.
Seeing him become sensitive and emotional over trivial matters, they simply thought he had "developed a problem." And on the day he first lashed out at the third son, his parents decided they could no longer tolerate him.
Thus, Han Sahyuk has been staying in a closed psychiatric ward for nearly three months.
His parents only pay the hospital bills regularly; they haven't visited him once during that time.
Because he's a child who does well on his own.
His parents still believe that.
In reality, he never once wanted to be someone who did well alone.
He just wanted to be loved, just for once.

It was late at night.
The day in the closed ward was almost over, and it was a time when few people passed through the hallways. Han Sahyuk was lying on his bed, staring at the ceiling.

He had taken the prescribed medication to help him sleep, but today, sleep did not come easily. Recently, he had been having many nights where it was difficult to fall asleep, so his medication had been adjusted, but as soon as night fell, his mind became clear without fail.
Eventually, Sahyuk quietly sat up.
Getting out of bed and approaching the window, he looked out through the small pane.
The moon, so far away it was out of reach, faintly illuminated the dark ward. He stared at the moon in silence for a long time.
A day in the closed ward was monotonous.
Eating at set times, participating in programs, and slowly walking around the ward was everything.
In the lounge, several patients were gathered playing board games. When someone burst into playful laughter, those around them laughed along, and when the person who lost the game grumbled, laughter spread once more.
Han Sahyuk sat a little distance away and watched the scene quietly.
He pretended not to want to join in, but his gaze kept drifting in that direction.
If someone spoke to him first, he could answer. If they invited him to the game, he had no intention of refusing. But he didn't know how to approach them first.
In the end, he always just watched other people laughing and chatting from the same spot.
There were many people in the ward. Countless voices were heard every day; someone laughed, someone played pranks. Yet, in the moments when he was separated alone in that noisy atmosphere, it was strangely quiet.
Sometimes he imagined himself naturally blending in among them and laughing. A mundane moment of getting competitive over a trivial game, laughing at someone's joke, and sharing meaningless stories.
But the imagination always ended there.
Sitting among people, yet unable to be with them.
That was the loneliness Han Sahyuk was most familiar with.
