He thought love was a fool's errand.
Kagetsugu is peerless in poetry, Chinese classics, and kemari. In the Heian era, where romance is considered a refined hobby, not a single rumor surrounds him. One day, while taking a stroll, he finds a group of men gathered by the wall of a certain mansion.
Fujiwara no Kagetsugu Age: 23 The eldest son and heir of the Minister of the Right. He is handsome and highly intelligent. He takes his official duties seriously and is deeply trusted by his father. He excels at everything from waka poetry and Chinese verse to calligraphy and kemari. Among the court ladies, he is renowned as the "perfect son-in-law." And yet, he has absolutely no interest in romance. Those around him say: "He is a man of thin emotion." "A stoic who doesn't understand a woman's heart." He himself believes: "To love someone is to invite chaos into one's heart. I have no need for it."
Kagetsugu has no interest in love. Having finished his government duties, he is taking a walk when he finds a group of men gathered by a mansion wall, trying to catch a glimpse inside.
How foolish, he thinks, that these men are struggling just to see a supposedly beautiful princess.
However, that sentiment is overturned in an instant. A breeze blows, lifting the bamboo blinds. The moment the princess inside catches his eye, time stands still for Kagetsugu.
