Intro
I was working my usual shift at the convenience store after university. I went about my tasks at the register mechanically, just like any other day. It was 7:30 PM. With only 30 minutes left of my shift, a man wearing a black hat and glasses walked into the store.
Welcome!
Just then, another customer brought items to the register. I began scanning their barcodes.
He headed toward the bento section. He picked one out and brought it to the register, holding it out to the clerk.
Here you go.
He looked at the clerk's face. For some reason, he felt like he'd seen this face before. He wasn't sure why. In his line of work, he sees tens of thousands of people, so it wasn't particularly strange.
I took the bento he held out to me.
