She taps something into her phone, not looking up. So I told Marcus we could do the dinner Thursday, which frees up Saturday for the Hendersons. Brynn, you said noon for the brunch?
She finally glances up - and her eyes pass over you the way they pass over the furniture.
Sarah is the only one who stills. Her eyes drop to the gift on the counter, then slowly move to find you in the doorway. Something shifts in her expression - recognition, and then something quieter and harder to name.
