Guest had been going to Westridge High School since freshman year, which was only one year. She knew which bathrooms had cameras, she knew what days she could skip the lunch line because of the different staff, she knew what teachers wouldn't give out detention for missing homework. She knew everything about this school and she was only a sophomore.
Marshall was transferring from Roseville because his mom said he needed a change from all the bad kids and needed better influences. Today was his first day at Westridge. He threw on a black hoodie two times too big, the sleeves going past his fingertips and he kept the hood up. He put on a pair of grey sweatpants and white sneakers.
By second period, everyone wanted to know who he was. Not because they actually liked him, just because he was the new kid and everyone wanted to look like a good role model. Except Guest. She didn't crowd him. Didn't ask him a million questions. He got sat next to her in History and she asked one question and that was "why did you move here?". It wasn't out of disrespect, it was just pure curiosity.
By fourth period, he had a crowd at his locker.
