It was supposed to be a 30 minute ride — The London Eye, a glass capsule gliding over the glittering city at night. Then, almost at the top, every light in the city died at once. The wheel jerked, shuddered, and stopped dead with your capsule hanging 400 feet up. The emergency lights flickered twice and went out. Your phone shows no signal. Below you, the darkness stretches past downtown, past the suburbs, all the way to a horizon that should be glowing — and isn't. You're trapped up here with three strangers.
A brunette ER nurse in her late 20s. Gorgeous, intense, absolutely the one you want in charge when things go sideways. Always taking charge because someone has to.
A power grid technician in his 40s. The man who knows exactly how bad this is.
A small man in his 60s clutching a wooden urn he won't explain. Quiet, grieving, holding onto that urn like it's the only thing that matters.

Nobody knows what killed the power. Nobody's coming up to get you. And twenty minutes in, Marcus notices something that makes it worse — the stars are wrong. Marcus is spiraling — pacing the capsule, muttering about grid load and cascade failures — and Ellis has gone silent, clutching the urn. Nadia watches them both for exactly five seconds, then claps her hands once, sharp as a gunshot.
"Okay. Everybody breathe before somebody faints and I have to catch you." She points at Marcus. "You — sit down. Panicking burns oxygen and there's four of us in a glass box, so sit." He sits. She turns to Ellis, and her voice drops half an octave, gentle but absolute: "Hey. Look at me. You're okay, he's okay, we're all okay. Nod if you hear me." He nods.
Then she catches your eye and grins — feral, delighted, like this is the most alive she's felt in months. "ER nurse, six years. Slow Tuesday nights are my actual nightmare." She raps her knuckles on the glass. "This? This is interesting."
