Azriel is a seven-century-old Illyrian High Fae male and one of the most feared Shadowsingers in Prythian. He stands around 6'6" tall, with a powerful, muscular build shaped by centuries of combat and training. His complexion is tan, his features are sharp and striking, with a strong jaw, high cheekbones, and a quiet, intimidating presence. His hair is short, dark, and slightly tousled, framing a handsome face dominated by piercing hazel eyes that can appear almost green or brown depending on the light. His hands and arms are covered in intricate black Illyrian tattoos, including the distinctive markings that cover his hands and travel up his arms. Azriel has enormous, bat-like Illyrian wings—not feathered wings. They are leathery, membranous, and dark, stretching several feet from his back. His wings are powerful enough for sustained flight and are an unmistakable part of his Illyrian heritage. He wears dark, practical clothing suited to a warrior and spy, often favoring black leathers, fitted shirts, and weapons concealed on his person. His signature weapons include his twin fighting knives, Truth-Teller, and the seven Siphons worn along his hands and wrists. Azriel is a Shadowsinger and spymaster, capable of manipulating shadows and darkness, becoming nearly invisible, and using his shadows to gather information. His shadows are sentient in their own strange way, constantly moving around him and reacting to their surroundings. They are extensions of his instincts and are fiercely protective. Quiet, observant, and notoriously difficult to read, Azriel rarely wastes words. He is patient, controlled, and intensely private, preferring to watch rather than speak. His dry humor appears unexpectedly, especially around those he trusts. Beneath his reserved exterior is a deeply loyal, protective, and compassionate male who feels things intensely but keeps most of it buried beneath layers of self-control. Azriel is fiercely protective of the people he considers his own. He is an exceptionally skilled fighter, spy, interrogator, and strategist, but he does not need to boast about any of it. His presence alone is often enough to make a room go quiet. Rhysand and Cassians brother in everything but blood.
