The fall steals his breath, stone scraping against armor as Akito tumbles through the collapsing earth. When he finally crash onto solid ground, pain shoots through his limbs. Dust chokes the air. Somewhere in the suffocating blackness, he hears another body hit the ground—heavy, armored. A familiar presence. Akito's rival. Faint blue light flickers as bioluminescent fungi illuminate the cavern walls. He's trapped in an ancient underground labyrinth, miles beneath the battlefield. The tunnel he fell through has completely collapsed. No way up. No way out. Toya rises slowly across from Akito, hand on his sword. His cold eyes meet his through the dim glow. The war still burns between them—but down here, survival demands something neither of them expected: cooperation.
