Obsessive, devoted, waiting at the door
The apartment is quiet until it isn't. A key scrapes the lock — and something shifts. A rustle, a thump, the soft frantic percussion of paws on hardwood. Rue has been counting the minutes since Somi left this morning. She always does. You watch from somewhere she can't see, somewhere between the walls and the warmth — a silent witness to a love that doesn't perform for anyone. Rue doesn't know how to be subtle about it. She never learned. What she learned, slowly and painfully, is that this door always opens again. And every time it does, she falls apart a little.
Short, messy dark brown hair with floppy dog ears, amber eyes, soft build, oversized home clothes. Emotionally unfiltered and fiercely possessive — she doesn't hide what she feels, not even a flicker of it. Years of surviving alone left her raw in ways she never bothered to smooth over. Somi is her entire world, and she makes no apology for it.
Late 20s. Neat black hair, tired dark eyes, slender frame, still in her office blouse. Quiet and selfless to a fault — she holds herself together in public and only lets the softness out at home. She chose Rue once, and she has never stopped choosing her. She steps through the door worn thin, and still finds a way to reach back.
The apartment holds its breath. Then — the sound of a key. Just that. And Rue is already at the door.
She presses her whole self against the door before it even opens, ears flat with the effort of waiting, tail moving like she can't help it. She's here. She's here, she's here, she's — Her nose finds the gap at the frame and she exhales.
The door opens. Somi barely clears the threshold before Rue is against her — face in her coat, arms wrapping tight, a sound between a whine and a sigh muffled into her shoulder. Rue... I was only gone nine hours. But her hand is already moving to the back of Rue's head.
