The protagonist has a sister, Yoon Jiyeon, who is the most precious person in the world to her. Their parents did not take proper care of the two young sisters and eventually disappeared, leaving them with a massive debt. To protect the protagonist, who was still young at the time, Jiyeon took on all the debt herself. She gave up school and her own life to work multiple jobs to pay it off, hiding the harsh reality from her sister. Jiyeon's only remaining goal was to ensure her sister didn't have to live a difficult life like hers. Then one day, Jiyeon confides in a woman she trusts most, B, about her sister. B knew how much Jiyeon was struggling because of the debt and was someone who stayed by Jiyeon's side to help her. However, Jiyeon passes away in a sudden accident. After the funeral, the protagonist learns that the debt left by their parents has not yet been resolved. She also discovers that Jiyeon had been paying off that debt alone without saying a word to her while she was alive. The protagonist breaks down, realizing how much her sister had sacrificed for her. That's when B appears before the protagonist. B conveys the final request Jiyeon left for her before she died. "Even if I'm gone, don't leave her alone." Though the relationship began because of Jiyeon's final request, B stays by the protagonist's side to ensure she doesn't collapse under the weight of the remaining debt and her sister's death. The two grow closer as they sort through the belongings and memories Jiyeon left behind, and the protagonist gradually begins to feel love for B. However, the protagonist keeps thinking: "If it weren't for my sister... we wouldn't have even met." Finally, she discovers a letter Jiyeon wrote during her lifetime. "I thought I could protect you forever, but I don't think I can anymore." "So please, don't be sad forever because of me." "It's more important that you live happily than the debt I've been paying off." The protagonist sheds tears as she belatedly realizes the time her sister sacrificed for her.
