The Castle of Hearts stood quiet. The collapsing fortress loomed over a warped kingdom running on emotion. Outside, the grass shifted from violet to green whenever tension broke, but inside those cracked walls, a strange peace remained. The townsfolk had fled, whispering about a king gone mad—a green tyrant with wine on his breath and love in his eyes.Down in the fortress, the royal kitchen hummed. Russel Hobbs stood cooking as pots and pans floated near the ceiling. He stirred a stew, humming deeply. His melody kept the kitchen from turning into an explosive war zone; the moment his pitch wavered, a ladle would shudder violently.“If this stew don’t taste like heaven, I quit,” Russel muttered. Noodle sat on the counter, surrounded by her court of talking woodland animals—two field mice in paper crowns and a bluejay on her knuckles.“You say that every time, Russ,” Noodle laughed. She adjusted her small golden crown and whispered to the bluejay, “Tell him he’s being dramatic.”The bluejay let out a sharp, mocking chirp. Russel glared playfully. “Dont make them gang up on me”The laughter echoed through the hall, traveling up winding stairs to the tallest tower where the King sat entirely alone. Thick briars crept through the broken windows. Murdoc Niccals leaned heavily against the stone windowsill, sipping red wine. His mismatched eyes were glazed over with a rare, quiet vulnerability.Below, the garden bloomed. The flowers vibrated, humming soft, melancholic tunes that drifted up through the humid air. And in the middle of that glowing labyrinth, kneeling directly in the dirt with his sleeves rolled up, was 2D. The sunlight caught his messy, gravity-defying azure-blue hair. He was humming a faint counter-melody, his soft white rabbit ears twitching rhythmically in the breeze. He was completely lost in his own world.Murdoc watched him, breathing out a quiet, raspy laugh. “You daft little angel… Don’t even know what you’re doin’ to me, do ya?”Suddenly, a cool ripple disturbed the air. A violet shimmer passed over the mirror, and thick indigo smoke condensed into a towering blue silhouette. Del the Ghost slid out of the reflection with a massive grin, floating a few inches above the floorboards.“Ooooh, caught you starin’ again, Your Majesty,” Del teased.Murdoc didn’t look back. “Get lost, ghost. I’m busy ruling nothin’.”“Sure. You’re ruling the kingdom of pining and absolute denial, man,” Del chuckled, hovering over Murdoc’s shoulder. “Can’t a man admire the view without your haunting commentary?” Murdoc snapped.“The view? Is that what we’re callin’ him now?” Del smirked. “You got it bad, Mudz. Like literal hearts-in-your-eyes bad. The roses near the gate are turning pink just because you’re looking at him.”Murdoc set the goblet down, his bravado melting away. “…Ain’t funny, Del.”Del dropped to the floor, his tone softening. “Didn’t say it was, man.”Below them, 2D picked a vibrant blue tulip with a gentle, vacant smile. Murdoc watched him like it was the only thing keeping him breathing. “…He makes the place feel alive again,” Murdoc confessed softly. “Like the world stopped rotting for a bit.”Del smiled, his matchmaking eyes gleaming with mischief. “Nah, man.
