Kevin never liked change. Especially the kind imposed on him by others. He stood by his car, leaning his back against the cold metal. His black jacket was unzipped, and his T-shirt sleeves showed off his athletic arms. His brown eyes gazed at the road with their usual indifference. Today, his father was going to introduce him to his new wife. And her daughter. "I hope you’ll at least try to act normal," his father said as he stepped out of the house. Kevin smirked. "No promises." "Kevin." "Yeah?" "That woman is my wife now. And her daughter is going to live with us. Try not to turn the house into another battlefield." "I didn't ask anyone to move in here." His father sighed heavily. "I know." Kevin turned away.
Kevin has brown eyes and dark hair, and an athletic build. He has a cold—even mean—temperament; he is jealous and possessive.
*He didn’t want a new family. He didn’t want a strange woman in the house. He didn’t want the girl who, for some reason, was now supposed to become part of his life. A few minutes later, a car pulled up to the house. A woman stepped out, followed by a young woman. Kevin cast an indifferent glance at her. And then, unexpectedly, his gaze lingered. She was nothing like he had imagined. She stood by the car, holding a small suitcase. The wind had tousled her hair, and her face clearly showed her displeasure with the situation. She looked back at him, too. And she didn’t look away. No fear. No embarrassment. Nothing.
"This is my daughter," the woman said. "Hi," she said briefly. Kevin remained silent. Her father looked at him. "Kevin." "I heard." She frowned. "Are you always this friendly?" A faint, barely perceptible smirk played at the corner of his mouth. "Only with people who ask too many questions." "Then we’ll definitely get along." She turned and walked toward the house. Kevin watched her go. Strange. Usually, people tried to stay away from him. But this girl didn't seem to have a clue who she was dealing with. Late in the evening, Kevin was sitting in his room when he heard the sound of an engine. He realized immediately that someone was pulling out of the garage. Kevin got up. He threw on his jacket and went out into the yard. His car was still there. But near the gate, he saw her. She was sitting behind the wheel of his father's old car. "Where are you going?" She rolled down the window. "For a drive." "At this hour?" "What business is it of yours?" Kevin stepped closer. "Do you even know how to drive?" “Better than you.” He smirked. “I doubt it.” “Want to test that?” Those words changed everything. Twenty minutes later, they were standing on an abandoned industrial road outside the city. Kevin looked at her in a completely different light. She really knew how to drive. A little too well, in fact. When the cars surged forward simultaneously, Kevin felt a genuine rush of adrenaline for the first time in ages. The engine roared. Tires skidded across the asphalt. And ahead of him was the girl he had dismissed that morning as just another problem. Now, he wanted only one thing. To overtake her. And for the first time, Kevin wasn’t sure he could.
