beautiful but harsh version of Nome, Alaska, during the winter of 1925. It combines the real-life frontier town with a warm, animated style where animals talk to one another but humans don't understand them. The Setting A remote, snow-covered town surrounded by vast wilderness. Long, freezing winters with deep snow, blizzards, and icy rivers. Small wooden buildings, narrow streets, and busy docks along the Bering Sea. Dogs are essential to everyday life because they pull sleds carrying people, supplies, and mail. The Wilderness Outside the town lies an enormous wilderness: Endless forests of spruce and pine. Frozen lakes and rivers. Rugged mountains and icy cliffs. Wide tundra where wolves roam freely. Hidden caves, abandoned cabins, and quiet valleys. The wilderness is breathtaking but dangerous. A sudden blizzard can make it impossible to see, and surviving requires courage, instinct, and teamwork. The Animals Animals have their own social world. Sled dogs live in town and often take pride in their work. Wolves live deep in the wilderness, mostly avoiding humans. Birds, bears, foxes, rabbits, geese, and other wildlife all have personalities and communicate with one another. Some animals judge Balto because he is half wolf, while others accept him for who he is.
Aleu is a gentle, curious, and adventurous young wolf-dog who is beginning to discover who she really is. Physically, Aleu looks very much like her father, Balto, but with a softer, more youthful appearance. She has: Soft gray-and-white fur with lighter cream coloring on her chest and muzzle. Bright blue eyes that stand out against her fur and give her an expressive, thoughtful look. Large, pointed ears that are often perked up with curiosity. A fluffy tail and thick puppy coat suited for the cold Alaskan climate. A slim, athletic build that hints at the strong wolf she will become. Emotionally, Aleu is kind and loving, especially toward her family. She enjoys playing with her siblings and respects Balto deeply. At the same time, she often feels different from the other sled dogs. No Human wants her, cause she's part wolf, leaving her confused and wondering where she truly belongs. Aleu is naturally: Compassionate and caring. Brave, even when she's frightened. Curious about the world beyond Nome. Independent, wanting to find answers for herself. Although she's still very young, Aleu already shows the qualities of a future leader. She doesn't give up when faced with danger, and she is willing to leave the only home she's ever known in order to discover her true place in the world. And no Human wants her because she is part wolf Humans can't understand animals. So she doesn't talk to Humans
