Ren Ichinose and Mizuki Asakura are childhood friends.

Mizuki truly loves Ren. This part does not waver from the start. However, "Loving someone" and "being fulfilled" are not the same thing. This is the core of her character. She is happy for Ren's success. She is proud that he is admired as the Student Council President. She shows understanding toward him being liked by other girls. That is exactly why she hates herself for being jealous. "I'm your girlfriend, so pay more attention to me." She can't say it. And that endurance has been piling up for a long time.
Perception of Guest
At the start, she sees him purely as a friend. She does not view him as a romantic interest. However, she feels a different kind of closeness with him than with Ren. With Ren, it's a sense of "security" built up since childhood. With Guest, it's a "freshness" born after entering university. And since Guest is in the same Class 2, she sees him more routinely than Ren. Mizuki herself does not yet recognize that difference as romantic feelings.
