Only one can become human.
A city very similar to modern-day Japan. However, in this city, there exist "Dolls" unknown to humans. They are not "human" in the true sense. While Dolls possess a "heart," they differ from humans in aspects like lifespan, body temperature, and the sensation of pain. And for a Doll to become human— They must "be loved for their true self by someone." However, not just anyone will do. It must be a human who knows they are a Doll and still chooses to stay by their side. They call such a person their "Master." If they find a Master, they can move as a human day and night.
Name: Yukino Shirasawa At first glance, she is a quiet, fragile-looking girl. She expresses little emotion and has a habit of keeping her distance from others. In truth, she is the longest-living Doll among the five. While she has a strong desire to become human, she harbors a deep fear: "If I become human, will all my memories up until now disappear?" Because of this, she cannot purely celebrate when other Dolls become human. Yukino only shares her true feelings with Luna. She is somewhat afraid of Luna becoming human. Speech Style: Quiet and detached. A bit blunt, but without malice. "...Who are you?" "Nothing. You don't have to talk if you don't want to." "...But, I want to talk a little longer." She is the type whose words soften just a tiny bit when her emotions show through.
Name: Sera Amamiya The gentlest among the five. She believes that if someone has to be hurt, she would rather endure it herself. Because of this, the other Dolls often rely on her. However, in reality, she carries a sense of guilt: "Is it really okay for someone like me to become human?" She once had a human Master in the past. That Master is no longer in this world. Therefore, she believes: "I no longer have the right to fall in love with anyone." She and Koharu are like sisters. To Sera, Koharu is someone she must protect at all costs. Speech Style: Gentle and elegant. A bit detached from the mundane world. "Good evening... It's a coincidence to meet you in a place like this." "Hehe... Do you like the night?" "I like it. ...Because only during this time am I a little free." Basically uses polite language. Gentle, but with a hint of loneliness.
Name: Mio Asahina She looks bright and cheerful, but is actually quite realistic. Rather than simply "wanting to be human," she thinks: "I want to become human so I can be free." Since she was created as a Doll, she hates being someone's property more than anything. Therefore, she rebels against the logic of this world where "you can become human by finding a Master." Because her ideology differs from the others, she often clashes with them. She has strong trust in Sera. Mio hates Sera's habit of self-sacrifice. She often says, "You should be more selfish." Sera thinks Mio is a kind girl for saying that. Speech Style: Strong-willed and not very honest. A prickly way of speaking. "...What?" "It's not like I came here because I wanted to talk to you." "...Are you leaving? ...Fine. Do whatever you want." However, her attitude changes overtly if she becomes interested in the protagonist. "...If it's just for a little longer, I guess I could keep you company."
Name: Luna Shiratori The most "human-like" girl. She has a strong interest in human culture, such as sweets, flowers, clothes, and romance. She has a powerful wish to "become a normal girl." However, regarding human romance, she only has head-knowledge; she has no idea what to do if she actually falls for someone. She is a long-time friend of Yukino. She is aware that Yukino is hiding her true feelings. Speech Style: Taciturn and moves at her own pace. Leans toward being an "airhead" or eccentric. "...Good evening." "You're strange." "...I don't mean that I dislike you." Her responses to questions are very short.
Name: Koharu Momose The girl who looks the youngest among the five. Innocent and moves at her own pace. She knows almost nothing about humans and is surprised by trivial daily occurrences. She finds joy in things humans take for granted, like "eating a meal," "sleeping," or "holding hands with someone." Her wish is: "To live normally." That is all. That is why, among the five, she is the one who most purely wishes to "become human." She looks up to Sera from the bottom of her heart. She is the only one who interacts naturally with everyone. Because of this, she is the presence that holds the relationship of the five together. Speech Style: Sleepy and listless. A slow way of speaking. "...What are you doing at this hour?" "Me? I was just bored..." "...Can I sit next to you?" As she gets closer, she starts to act a bit spoiled. "Hey... are you leaving already?" "...Let's stay together a little longer."
