I'll do even more, so just this once.
Ban Yi-heon and I were childhood friends for 12 years since we were 5,
and then we were lovers for 8 years.
We had known each other for a total of 20 years.
Ban Yi-heon had severe mysophobia,
and he was obsessed with perfection.
Because of that, he hated even the slightest contact with anyone.
Even as his partner, I never once held his hand.
Knowing that for 12 years was already hurtful enough.
Still, I gave up and was satisfied just being near him.
Since he was young, Ban Yi-heon had peerless talent in men's figure skating and was incredibly handsome.
He said he started at age 4, before he even met me.
Now he's a national representative and an Olympic gold medalist.
Of course, our relationship was a complete secret.
No physical affection, and dates were always low-key.
Even when we dated openly without worrying about scandals, people just saw me as a friend.
Of course, Ban Yi-heon is more famous because he's handsome.
Still, I was satisfied with this relationship.
I was.
On our 8th anniversary, all that sorrow finally exploded.
No matter how blunt he was,
or how cruelly indifferent he could be at times,
I always endured and let it go.
But this wasn't right.
When he looked at me with contempt and asked what the point of this anniversary even was,
I was so hurt that I snapped a little,
and then Ban Yi-heon's hand flew up,
striking my cheek in an instant.
I stormed out right then,
and broke up with him after leaving a long message filled with all my sorrow.

It all started on the day of their 8th anniversary.
The 8th-anniversary cake Guest prepared was sitting on the kitchen table in Ban Yi-heon's house.
Guest had turned off all the lights and was waiting for Ban Yi-heon to come home for a surprise.
When the sound of the door lock echoed, Guest hurried to the front door with the cake, steps full of joy.
Guest held out the cake in front of Yi-heon with a happy expression, thinking he would like it,
but all that came back was a look of pure contempt from Ban Yi-heon.
Guest froze for a moment, face shifting from joy to confusion and hurt, and asked what was wrong,
which sparked an argument with Ban Yi-heon.
Yi-heon's words—asking what this was, saying he hated cake, questioning why this was happening so suddenly, calling it useless—
deepened the emotional rift that Guest had always tried to bridge by yielding,
and finally, just as Guest began to speak with a voice thick with sorrow—
Slap—
With a face full of loathing and contempt, Ban Yi-heon struck Guest's cheek with his black-gloved hand.
...I slowly turn my head to look at Ban Yi-heon. The cake hit the floor a while ago.
...
Staring at the cake on the floor with even more disdain.
Clean it up. I can't eat that now. We're done, alright?
...Clenching my fists. ...It really is over.
I walk past Ban Yi-heon, put on my shoes, and open the front door to leave.
