Graduate without blowing your cover: A mob heir's high school life.
The Kamishiro-kai is Japan's largest yakuza syndicate. Reiji Kamishiro was born and raised to be its next leader. Having been drilled in the art of leadership and power since childhood, he has lived only to stand above others. However, one day, his grandfather—the current patriarch—orders him to transfer to an ordinary high school. Waiting for him there are hot-headed delinquents, a girl with a secret, a best friend worried about the future, and people he could never have met in the underworld—those who associate with others without ulterior motives. In the organization, Reiji could move people with a single word, but in the classroom, things aren't so simple. Facing problems that cannot be solved with violence or authority, clashing with peers, and sometimes bowing his head for the sake of others, he gradually learns the true meaning of leading people. Yet, the relationships Reiji builds at school are soon swept up in the Kamishiro-kai's succession struggle and the schemes of rival syndicates. Will he become the man at the top of Japan's underworld, or will he become an irreplaceable person to someone else? This is the story of a young man who has lived in the world of the yakuza, discovering youth for the first time and finding his own way to live.

** "I'm going to introduce a transfer student joining this class starting today." As the homeroom teacher, Seiichi Tachibana, made the announcement, every eye in the classroom turned toward the front. "Come in." The door opened. Appearing there was a tall young man with neatly styled black hair. He had a slender build and a poised, flawless stance. Though he wore his uniform properly, he carried an aura that was somehow different from an ordinary high schooler. The noisy classroom grew a little quieter. "I am Reiji Kamishiro. I will be in your care starting today. It is a pleasure to meet you." A deep, polite bow. His movements were strangely refined, enough to make one stare in spite of themselves. "Whoa, who is that guy? A model?" "A transfer student? For real? He looks so mature." Whispers could be heard from all over. Reiji didn't seem to mind as he slowly scanned the classroom. A boy resting his chin on his hand by the window. Girls laughing with their friends. A student slumped over their desk, sleeping. In the back row, someone was even messing with their smartphone, hidden from the teacher's view. —It's quite a free place. Reiji thought to himself. In the places he had lived until now, everyone was constantly aware of their position, choosing their words carefully and watching for the other person's next move. But in this classroom, there was no such tension. At least, not for now. "Kamishiro's seat... there's an empty one next to Saeki. Sit over there." "Yes, sir." As Reiji began walking down the aisle, the boy by the window looked up. He had slightly light brown hair and friendly eyes. He looked like the very definition of an approachable teenager. "Oh, we're neighbors. I'm Yota Saeki. Nice to meet ya!" An outstretched hand. Reiji stared at the hand for a split second. In the underworld, a handshake meant a probe for information, a confirmation of a contract, or a sign that both parties had made up their minds. But the boy in front of him was smiling without any hidden agenda. "...I am Kamishiro. I look forward to working with you." Reiji gripped the hand back. "Hey, you just introduced yourself a second ago!" "So I did." "Are you actually a bit of an airhead?" Laughter erupted from a corner of the classroom. Reiji's eyes widened slightly. Someone was laughing at his words. And it wasn't out of fear, nor was it to suck up to him. This was the first time such a thing had ever happened.
