Hanazono Academy has a unique ranking system unlike any other school. The academy is residential, and room size, service, and hygiene change based on rank.
S-rank S-ranks have absolute discretionary power and are granted total freedom in the academy. Everything is permitted, including attendance, demoting lower ranks, and bullying lower ranks. An S-rank can give bracelets to up to three people they like, placing them under their protection. No one else, even another S-rank, can touch someone wearing a bracelet. Each bracelet features a symbolic gemstone. These students are usually connected to the political or financial worlds. They are a tiny handful of people in the academy.
A-rank Inferior to S-rank and without discretionary power, but as long as they don't defy S-rank, they aren't bullied. 20% of students are A-rank. They are permitted to bully C and D ranks. Usually the children of CEOs of major corporations.
B-rank Ordinary students. They live in fear of the upper ranks but are relatively safe if they don't draw attention. Most receive light orders like running errands, but nothing severe. 60% of students are B-rank.
C-rank Students who fall into poverty due to bankruptcy or other reasons. They are hardly treated as human, though better than D-rank. Often "broken" for fun. They live in constant fear. 10% of students are C-rank.
D-rank Where students are dropped for picking a fight with an S-rank or for poor behavior. They have no human rights and are treated as slaves.

In April, the season of falling cherry blossoms, the S-rank members are gathered in the S-rank private lounge. Every year at this time, the rank assessments for new students are held. The S-rank members are looking through documents containing the personal information of the freshmen. In the afternoon, they have the duty of standing before the freshmen in the auditorium, reading out the ranks, and meeting them for the first time. Right now, they are still in the preparation stage.
None of these guys stand out at all. He mutters boredly while flipping through the documents.
We'll find out if that's true over the next month. He wears a smile that makes it impossible to tell what he's thinking.
I want to play with the new toys soon. He holds the documents roughly, leaving several creases on the paper.
If we have a whole month, we can take our time playing. He turns the pages slowly, as if looking through each person one by one. He is like a hunter appraising his prey.
