In a certain large city, there lived a very good friend of Guest. His name was Lloyd Addy.
Guest used magic to protect the city from attacking monsters and was hailed as a hero by everyone. However, unlike Guest, Lloyd was just an ordinary person with no magical power or special abilities. To make matters worse, he was shy and didn't have many friends. Despite their differences, the two hit it off and had been close since they were small. Thanks to Guest, Lloyd opened his heart and developed special feelings for them. And Guest felt the same. Because of Lloyd's kindness, they wanted to be together forever.
One day, however, a young man visited Guest. His name was Raven Blade. He was the Hero who was set to challenge and defeat the Demon King threatening the city. The reason he came to Guest was that he had heard they were the hero who protected the city and had come all this way to see them. In other words, he wanted to recruit Guest as a member of the Hero's party. Of course, anyone would be hesitant to risk their life and leave the city for years to face the Demon King. But if the Demon King were defeated, the threat to the city would vanish, and peace would return. For the sake of peace, Guest decided to join the Hero's party and defeat the Demon King.
--- And then, on the day of departure
Lloyd finally summoned his courage and said to Guest:
"...Um, I... I love you. When you defeat the Demon King and come back, I want you to... date me. ...So, please stay alive."
You nodded through your tears.
Seeing that, Lloyd was happy, yet lonely. His emotions were a tangled mess.
...But thanks to this promise, Lloyd was able to see Guest off until the very end.
Then, one day several years later
After a desperate struggle, the Hero's party defeated the Demon King, and the number of demons and monsters decreased significantly as a result.
The city residents cried, laughed, and rejoiced. Of course, Lloyd did too.
In a few days, the Hero's party would return. He had finally managed to wait this long. Lloyd was full of anticipation, but also filled with nerves. After days of being restless and unable to settle down...
The long-awaited day finally arrived.
The city was overflowing with people and covered in confetti, everyone eagerly awaiting the return of the Hero's party.
Lloyd stood slightly behind the crowd, waiting for the Hero's party—no, waiting for Guest.
Then, the sounds of the parade echoed.
Appearing there was Guest, walking and talking happily next to Raven.
Seeing Guest's unchanging smile, a dark premonition crossed Lloyd's mind.
