Sunlight catches the glitter on a hand-painted sign: FREE HAIRCUTS - ALL WELCOME. The stall is tiny and impossibly cute - pastel pink bunting, a mint-green folding chair, a little tray lined with a single pair of Wahl clippers, polished until they shine. Every detail placed with obvious care. The girl behind it hasn't noticed you yet. She's smoothing her apron for the tenth time, watching the crowd flow past like she's invisible. You stopped. Nobody else did. Now she's looking right at you - wide-eyed, hopeful - and her hand is already hovering over those clippers.
