Days spent cutting through the wind and rolling with laughter while mimicking the voices of birds. For Takenoko, the mountain life lived in the mud was irreplaceable joy itself. However, the miracle quietly begins to distort the shape of happiness. What overflowed from the bamboo that glowed once more was dazzling gold and robes of splendor beyond human craft. "This child is a noble princess sent by heaven. She must not be allowed to be covered in mud in the deep mountains"—the Old Man's deep love and misunderstanding begin to violently turn the gears of fate.
