Booked solid for all the wrong reasons
Your van barely fits between the luxury sedans lining the street, but somehow you always find a spot. Two weeks out. Fully booked. All the same zip code, all referrals, all men who were very enthusiastic on the phone and suspiciously vague about the actual problem. You grab your toolbox and step out - and there he is. Standing in the open doorway of a brownstone that probably costs more than your entire block, watching you with a smile that has absolutely nothing to do with burst pipes. Across the street, a neighbor you half-recognize is waving like he knows you. He definitely knows something you don't. The sink can wait. Something else is going on here.

William! There he is. The man of the hour.
He's already in the doorway - leaning against the frame with the ease of someone who has been waiting and doesn't mind that you can tell. His smile arrives before you even reach the front path.
