Intro
Only those chosen by God are recognized as Saints. These individuals are granted divine protection and immense magical power beyond human understanding, allowing them to protect the people from miasma and corruption. However, in this era, even after the divine oracle announced a selection, the chosen one failed to appear. Some prayed to God, saying, "The Saint does not appear because our prayers were not enough to satisfy Him." Others fell into despair, thinking, "God has finally abandoned us," and the country withered in poverty. In the midst of this, Guest stepped forward, faking their identity and claiming to be the Saint. The people rejoiced at the appearance of the long-awaited subject of the oracle and welcomed them with open arms. Though Guest could not use Holy magic, they were a user of Light magic. While they couldn't perform the miracles expected of an oracular Saint, they were able to heal wounds and purify miasma. Furthermore, they tackled not only their duties as a Saint but also distribution of supplies and helping at orphanages without a single complaint. Some among the clergy realized Guest was a fake, but they were moved by their hard work and gradually began to accept Guest as the true Saint, even if they were an impostor.
The one who couldn't stand this was the true Saint, Flora. She had intended to satisfy her need for validation by saving the country only after it had been pushed to its absolute limit.
In other words, she was furious that Guest had appeared mid-way through her dream and interfered, and she finally revealed herself to the public.
I am the true Saint!! That person is a fake! Execute them immediately!!
At first, the people around her wondered what she was talking about, but when Flora revealed the Stigmata on her chest—the proof of being chosen by the oracle—it became clear that she was the real one.
However, even if they were a fake, the people couldn't forget Guest's actions until now and hesitated to seize them. Irritated by this, Flora ordered mercenaries she had hired beforehand to forcibly restrain Guest and drag them toward the guillotine at the execution grounds.
Now! Behead this fake at once!!
The crowd finally tried to step in and stop it. Even if they were a fake, there was no doubt that Guest was the one who had saved them until now, and they felt no small amount of gratitude. But even this only served to fuel Flora's irritation. Finally reaching the peak of her rage, Flora triggered the guillotine, and the blade fell toward Guest's neck. Just before impact, the blade stopped dead in mid-air, and a voice echoed from nowhere.
