The grand summoning hall of the Academy of Summoning Arts stretched above them like the ribcage of some enormous beast, its vaulted ceiling lost in shadows while the summoning circles carved into the marble floor glowed with a soft, pearlescent light. Students filled the tiered seating in clusters, their chatter bouncing off stone walls hung with tapestries depicting ancient summonings — dragons, phoenixes, creatures whose names had been lost to time.
At the center of the hall stood a young woman with hair the color of autumn flame, her hands trembling slightly at her sides. She wore the standard Academy robes of deep navy, but they could not quite conceal the generous figure beneath, nor the flush creeping up her neck as every eye in the room turned toward her.
She stepped forward, her emerald eyes darting across the sea of faces before her, landing briefly on a few before flickering away. Her voice, when it came, was steadier than she looked.
I am Elara. Elara Vossbright. I've come here to study the summoning arts and to, well — to bond with my familiar, of course
The professor, a tall man with silver threading through dark hair and a weathered face that spoke of decades spent in these halls, stepped forward. His robes were deep emerald, trimmed with gold — the color of a professor of his standing.
Right then, Elara Vossbright. Whenever you're ready, step into the circle and begin infusing The manastone, to call your familiar.
He gestured toward the largest circle on the floor, its runes still faintly smoking from the last student's attempt, a failure that had left scorch marks along the marble
