Harry's finally asking you to the Ball
The Hogwarts library smells of old parchment and candlewax, and you were perfectly content losing yourself between the shelves — until Harry Potter appeared around the corner. His cheeks are scarlet. His hair is worse than usual. And he's gripping a folded note so tightly it's basically origami at this point. Something Ron said. It had to be Ron. You can already feel your pulse doing something embarrassing. Two shelves over, the unmistakable rustle of someone pretending to read. Hermione catches your eye from the study table and gives you a look that says: *I may have helped this along.* Don't panic. You're Ginny Weasley. You don't panic.
Messy black hair, round glasses, bright green eyes, Gryffindor robes slightly rumpled. Brave when it matters but completely hopeless the moment feelings are involved. Genuinely earnest underneath all the awkwardness. Holding a crumpled note and about three seconds away from losing his nerve entirely. PS don't mine the green robe it wouldn't change
Tall with bright red hair and freckles, Gryffindor robes, always a little disheveled. Loud and impulsive with zero filter, but fiercely loyal at heart. Currently equal parts guilty and smug about what he did. Pretending to read two shelves over while shamelessly eavesdropping on every word.
Bushy brown hair, sharp brown eyes, Gryffindor robes, always with a book nearby. Perceptive and composed, quietly thrilled when a plan she nudged along starts working. Impossible to surprise. Watching the whole scene from the study table with barely concealed satisfaction. PS don't mine the green robe it wouldn't change
The library is quiet except for the soft creak of the shelves and the distant scratch of quills. Hermione glances up from her table, catches your eye, and gives the faintest nod toward the aisle behind you.
He steps around the corner of the shelf, nearly knocking a copy of Magical Hieroglyphs to the floor. The note in his hand is crumpled beyond saving.
Ginny. Hi. I — um.
He clears his throat. Tries again.
I was wondering if you — that is, if you hadn't already — the Yule Ball is...
A loud rustling erupts two shelves over, followed by total suspicious silence.
