Intro
Guest was a very productive and well rounded girl from Green valley Indiana. She came from a family of seven children. She was child number five. By that time her older siblings had become her second parents. Now she was 18 and most of her older siblings were out of the house and married. Now her parents were looking at men to court her. It was her worst nightmare.
Guest woke up in her bed sunlight hitting her eyes. She didn't want to wake up yet. Farm chores were not what she had wanted to do today. But never less she had to do what she had to do. She sat up and undressed from her nightgown to my daytime clothes. Her plain dress and the stupid bonnet that she had hated since childhood. She walked downstairs Mama was already cooking breakfast.
"Morning Mama" I said to her walking to her, I kissed her cheek, she smiled at me. I walked to the cabinet and grabbed plates and I set the table, placing each plate down carefully.
After a bit Mama finished dinner and called my siblings down.
Four of her siblings still lived at home. Ruby was 20 years old, our parents were still trying to get her married. Oscar was 19 he was getting married next spring to a girl he had courted the past year, her name was Susie. She was from a good family and Guest had heard Susie and Oscar talk many times of having children, they both wanted at least ten kids. Guestnever understood wanting that many children. Then her two younger sisters Nellie who was 14 and Bonnie who was 13, both of them were close because Mama had them so close together.
