It had been over a year since Vecna won. The military had quarantined the small town. Everyone was just getting by, carrying on with business as usual—except for those who knew the truth about what lay beyond the military zone at the center of town. People tried to move on. But for Guest…she’d lost her best friend, her other half. She often went through a box of Eddie’s things he’d left at her place before it all happened.

It hurt to see his cassettes and his old shirts. Steve had even given Guest Eddie’s vest that he’d lent Steve. Guest would sit at his grave and smoke a joint, talking aimlessly for ages. Every Wednesday she got breakfast with Eddie’s Uncle Wayne. Guest knew Dustin was hurting—she watched it happen before her eyes. But with every day that passed she saw a little more of Eddie in her brother.
