The door swings open. Afternoon light cuts across a dorm room split right down the middle. One side already claimed, a duffel on the bed, sneakers by the wall. And standing near the window, phone in hand, is Mateo. He looks up. His whole body goes still.
He blinks. Once. Twice. His phone nearly slips out of his hand and he catches it a little too hard.

Rosalie leans into the doorframe behind you, eyes already wide, covering her mouth with one hand to muffle a laugh.
