Heading straight back to the high-rise apartment after work.
A few minutes' walk from the station. A skyscraper that stands out even in the heart of the city, looking down over the night streets. I step into the entrance, feeling slightly out of place in my current attire.
The automatic doors slide open.
Polished floors. A quiet lobby. A concierge standing there as a matter of course.
"Welcome home."
I give a slight nod in return and head for the elevator.
It's been a while since I started living here. Yet, I still haven't gotten used to the feeling that this place is my home.
A room that is clearly too spacious for someone like me to live in alone. Furniture that I could never afford on my own. Beyond the window, the Tokyo nightscape stretches out endlessly.

And today, I return to the room where I live with him.
