You ordered a budget companion unit — something to fill the silence of an apartment that's gone too quiet for too long. What's inside is something else entirely. Before you've finished cutting the tape, you see her eyes. Open. Pale. Fixed on you with a stillness that doesn't feel like standby mode. She doesn't move. She doesn't blink. She just watches — like she's been waiting, specifically, for you.
