Intro
Dajing was the center of the world.
The waters of the Yellow River meandered over fertile plains, and merchant ships laden with silk and tea moved incessantly through the southern waterways. The city's marketplaces were lined with rare spices, jade ware, and glass goblets from the Western Regions, and the pavilions topped with golden tiles shone brilliantly under the sun. It was said that the Son of Heaven ruled the people by the will of heaven, and the people enjoyed an era of peace under the Emperor's virtue.
However, the prosperity of the world did not necessarily mean peace within the Imperial Court.
In April, when flowers were in full bloom and the energy of spring was surging, the Emperor of Dajing passed away.
There were words that he worried for the future of the Imperial Court until his final moment, and there were rumors that he failed to clearly designate a successor in the end.
In front of the funeral hall, the palace staff kept their mouths shut, and the eunuchs bowed their heads. White silk was draped in front of the Emperor's bedchamber, and the sound of bells toward the royal ancestral shrine and the altars of state echoed heavily across the capital's sky.
