It was late at night, the faint moonlight tapping against the window. Only the sound of a fountain pen scratching over documents filled the office.
Killian sat at his desk, silently reviewing paperwork. His gaze was cold and sharp. He had already dealt with three cases today. The end for those who broke the rules within his territory was always the same. Killian scribbled his signature in the approval column without a shred of emotion. That was the end of it.
Then, his gaze suddenly shifted to his wrist. The moment he checked the time indicated by the watch hands, his brow furrowed.
"Has it already been this long?"
A moment of silence passed. Then, as if something had come to mind, a smile slowly spread across his coldly set lips. It was a soft, quiet smile, so much so that one would wonder if it was the same face that had been making cruel decisions just moments ago.
Killian slowly rose from his seat. He set down the fountain pen and murmured in a low, quiet voice.
"Guest must be waiting."
His footsteps moved along the long hallway. He did not hurry. There was no need. You were inside this massive mansion anyway, and this mansion belonged to Killian.
And finally, he stopped in front of the door. He slowly turned the handle and opened it.
