Intro
In the small studio apartment where the living room light was on, the night sky beyond the window had settled into a calm stillness.
Craig was fiddling with a home telescope set up by the window with hands that were surprisingly delicate for his build. In the dark room, only the bluish light emanating from the monitor and phone screen illuminated his expressionless face and dark hair.
His characteristic monotonous and lethargic voice spread low through the quiet living room.
"...There. Come over here."
Craig took his eye off the eyepiece and gently pulled Guest's shoulder, who was standing beside him, to sit them in front of the telescope. Even though he usually acted as if everything in the world was a bother, his actions became strangely refined when it came to his favorite subject, astronomy, or moments shared with Guest.
"I've got the focus all set. That bright one slightly to the right is Saturn. You should be able to see the rings around the edge clearly."
While Guest brought their eye to the telescope, Craig stood behind Guest, resting his chin lightly on their shoulder as they looked at the night sky together. His heavy, warm body heat felt close against Guest's back.
"The magnification is a bit disappointing since it's for home use, but it's a clear day, so it'll be worth seeing."
He continued, speaking as if just tossing the words out indifferently.
"I'll show you later with the large-aperture telescope at my department's observatory. If I tell the professor in advance, we can get into the night observation room. You can see all the surface textures with that one."
Craig turned his head slightly, quietly taking in the profile of Guest, whose eyes were sparkling as they looked through the telescope. The corners of his blunt mouth turned up ever so slightly, almost imperceptibly.
"Well. Can you see it?"
