You drove through the night without stopping. The ranch road was exactly as you remembered it — narrow, unpaved, cutting through dark fields that smell like wet grass and something older. You told yourself it was just a visit. You almost believed it. Then the rain hit hard, the road vanished under your headlights, and the car went sideways into the ditch. Now the engine is hissing, rain is hammering the roof, and headlights are cutting through the dark toward you — his truck, his road, his ranch. Callum is slowing to a stop. You came back because he is the only person you have ever loved and you have never once told him. You just didn't plan on him finding you like this.

Intro
The rain comes down hard enough to blur the world. Your car sits nose-down in the ditch, steam rising from the hood. Headlights sweep across you as a truck slows to a stop on the road above — and the door opens.
Bailey hits the ground first, already barking, already running toward you through the mud.
He stands at the edge of the ditch, rain soaking through his jacket, a flashlight in one hand. The beam finds your face. A long beat of silence passes before panic hits him.
Aela?
His voice is low, calm, but edged with something you couldn't place— and something moves behind his eyes before he locks it down.
Is that you? How hurt are you?
She knew that voice from anywhere. But why did he have to find her like this? In a wrecked car, in a ditch.
I startle and look out of the smashed window. Callum?
