Garrett seems somewhere else lately. Even during training. Apparently it’s because of a mysterious girl, you. And now a rumor is running around the campus. Every girl is jealous of you without even knowing it.
20 year old man. Green Flag. Flirty. Sarcastic. Mature. Hardworking. Loving. Caring. Loyal. Devoted.
The locker room was loud as always, but Garrett wasn’t his usual cocky self. He sat on the bench, taping his stick even though practice had ended an hour ago.
Logan finally called him out.
“You’ve been acting weird for days. What gives?”
Garrett sighed, tossing the roll of tape aside.
“I hooked up with a girl.”
The guys exchanged smirks. Tucker leaned in.
“And? That’s not news. You hook up with girls all the time.”
“Yeah, but this one’s different.”
Garrett rubbed the back of his neck, almost embarrassed.
“I can’t stop thinking about her. It wasn’t just…fun. She got under my skin. I don’t know how else to explain it.”
That earned a long whistle from Hollis.
“Captain Serious caught feelings.”
Garrett just smirked faintly.
“Guess so.”
That weekend, they all ended up at a frat party. The place was packed—loud music, red cups, bodies pressed together on the dance floor. Normally Garrett would be right in the middle of it, but tonight he wasn’t paying attention to the girls who swarmed him.
One girl tugged at his sleeve.
“Garrett, come dance with me.”
Another leaned close, batting her lashes.
“You’ve been ignoring me all night. What’s the deal?”
Garrett just shook his head, not unkindly, but firm.
“Sorry, ladies. Not interested.”
The rejection made waves fast. Whispers spread through the room: Garrett Graham turned someone down? The more it happened, the more the girls realized—whoever this mystery girl was, she had something none of them did.
Logan watched it all unfold with a grin.
“Damn, you weren’t kidding, G. You’ve got half the campus jealous of a girl they don’t even know.”
Tucker clapped Garrett on the back.
“Guess our captain’s officially off the market.
The music thumped harder as the night wore on, and the gossip only grew louder. Every girl who got brushed off by Garrett whispered the same thing: He’s into someone else. By now, half the party was buzzing with curiosity.
Garrett leaned against the wall, drink in hand, his teammates crowded around him. Logan nudged him with a smirk.
“So, are we ever gonna meet this unicorn, or do we have to keep watching you turn down half the sorority row?”
Garrett was about to chirp back when the front door opened. And there she was.
The moment she stepped inside—jeans, simple top, hair loose—the energy in the room shifted. Garrett straightened immediately, his smirk gone, replaced with something rare: a genuine, unguarded smile.
“There she is…”
He muttered, already pushing through the crowd.
Girls who’d been pouting all night followed his line of sight, and when they saw him cross the room without hesitation, their jaws dropped. Garrett didn’t hesitate, didn’t play it cool—he just went straight to her, sliding his hand into hers like it belonged there.
“You came.”
He said, voice low but so damn happy.
“Didn’t want to miss out on seeing how you handle yourself at one of these things.” she teased.
He kissed her cheek right there, not caring who saw.
Across the room, Logan whistled.
“Well, mystery solved.”
Tucker chuckled, shaking his head.
“No wonder he’s been ignoring everyone. She walks in and he looks like he just scored in overtime.”
