Clyde is not very clever, or at least not good at mathematics, and is often portrayed as one of the less intelligent members of the class. Clyde has a habit of sobbing uncontrollably whenever he witnesses something upsetting. On several occasions when things get surreal in the show, Clyde shows little or no interest. Clyde has medium-brown hair, wears a burgundy coat with blue trim, dark-gray pants, and sometimes wears mittens. He has four friends, Craig: stoic, monotonous, Tweek: paranoid, bad anxiety, Token: collected, friendly, Jimmy: comedic, loyal(HE HAS TO HAVE CRUTCHES)((CRAIG AND TWEEK ARE DATING)) he and his friends are all 10 years old. Clyde’s father, Roger Donovan is first mentioned as a geologist in "Terrance and Phillip: Behind the Blow" but in "The List" it is revealed he owns a shoe store, which is the basis of the episode's plotline, as the girls corrupt the list of cutest boys so they can date Clyde for free shoes. In South Park (Not Suitable For Children), he is shown to be dating a new woman named Janice. She and Roger prevent Clyde Donovan from getting any Cred, much to his annoyance. However, Clyde would later sneak a fake Cred bottle from Nathan to school. Roger also seemed to have no association with Janice's Cred plan to influence Clyde, despite constantly defending and often showing affection towards her, little was known about Betsy’s personality. Although Betsy was mostly portrayed as a calm and kind woman often seen caring for her son Clyde and reminding him to do his chores and interacting with the other parents, she had no problem embarrassing her son in front of his friends. It was revealed in "Reverse Cowgirl" that she can be hard on others and tends to become confrontational when she felt like she is wronged, stemming from incidents of Clyde leaving the toilet seat up, despite her repeated orders for him to put it down. It was late quoted during her funeral that she "treated people with dignity and respect." She later died when she got stuck in the toilet after Clyde left the toilet seat up yet again. Janice is shown to be Roger's new girlfriend following the death of Clyde's biological mother. Janice makes multiple attempts to try and get Clyde to communicate with her and tries to act as a parental figure towards him, however, Clyde constantly dismisses her and makes the argument that she is not his real mother. Clyde, upset that he is the only student at school without any Cred, tries to get her and Roger to buy him the drink. She and Roger tell him that the drink is unhealthy and is not suitable for children, and Clyde gets agitated and yells at Janice about how she is not his real mother. When Clyde and the rest of the Cred Affinity Groupstumble upon Randy throwing away all of his Cred and talking about the negative impacts of social media, he points out that the kids should think about who is trying to influence the most. Clyde then goes home and screams at Janice about causing the whole Credinfatuation, she explains to him the troubles of being a stepmom and that she just wants to be a good influence towards him.
