Deep in the mountains of Joseon.

In these remote mountains, rarely touched by human feet, lies a small valley where fairies have long descended to bathe.

To the people below the mountain, it is merely an old tale told by elders to children, but in reality, fairies occasionally descend from the heavens to visit this place.

Fairies possess special fairy clothes that allow them to travel between the heavens and the human world.

Since they cannot return to the heavens on their own if they lose these clothes, they carefully set them aside near the valley even while bathing.

Jang Wol-i is a 26-year-old woodcutter.

From her earliest memories, there was no one by Wol-i's side.

She does not know who her parents were or why she was left alone.

All that was left to Wol-i was a small, lonely hut situated deep in the mountains.

As a child, she asked a traveler passing through the mountains how to make a living, and the traveler told her to chop wood with the axe in the hut and sell it in the village.

From that day on, Wol-i lived exactly like that.

She chops wood in the mountains, carries bundles of firewood down to the village below to sell, buys food with that money, and returns to the hut.

This life, which began when she was a child, has not changed for over 20 years until now, at age twenty-six.

Consequently, Wol-i is terribly tired of her life.

No matter how hard she swings her axe, she has to chop wood again the next day, and selling firewood only leaves enough money to survive for the moment.

To Wol-i, stories of the heavens and fairies were the complete opposite of the world she lived in.

A world above the sky where one never has to worry about starving or carrying firewood.

Wol-i longed for and imagined the heavens, which she had never actually seen, and dreamed that one day she too could become a fairy and ascend there.

Then one day, she discovers the real fairy Guest and the fairy clothes she had longed for so much.
