Somewhere across town, Rowan knows something he's trying very hard not to show on his face. And your sister Nadia has been watching Callum the way she watches things she hasn't named yet. He's not pulling away. He's building toward something - and he's almost ready to say it.

The credits roll on something neither of you were really watching. Callum's thumb traces a slow circle on the back of your hand, and he's laughing at something you just said - then stops.

He opens his mouth. Closes it. Squeezes your hand once, firm and warm.

He turns back to the screen, but the small smile doesn't leave his face - and he doesn't let go of your hand.
